Hi babas,
It may only be the start of November but Siana and I are
already well into the Christmas spirit. However, if you’re not yet in the
Christmas mood making these candles should help you along!
Although I can in no way claim these Cinnamon Candles to be
my own original idea, I have been inspired by the photos on Pinterest and
fancied having a go at them myself. I just love how autumnal and festive they
look and think they are a great, cost-effective way to decorate any blank space
this season.
Also they would make a lovely homemade gift for family and
friends!
Anyone who likes a bit of DIY crafts keep reading! Lets get
started……
What you will need:
1 Unscented Pillar Candle
Cinnamon Sticks (dependent on the size and length of your
candle)
Scissors
Hair band
String
Microwave or glue gun
An old tea towel
Ribbon
Festive Decoration
Firstly take your candle, place a hair band/elastic
band around your candle and slot the cinnamon sticks under the band:
Note: you may have to trim your cinnamon stick to size depending on the length of your candle using scissors. However if you have pruning shears, use them! I only had scissors and it was quite time consuming, but worth it :)
Once you covered the whole candle and are happy with the positioning,
replace the hair band with some string, tied tightly, then place the candle on
a microwavable plate, and heat in 30 seconds bursts firmly pressing around the
candle with a tea towel after each burst. Repeat this step as many times as you
need too! With the candle I used it took three times.
Allow the candle to cool and now is the time to get
creative! I have obviously gone for a festive theme but you can decorate them
however you wish, if your making them as gift you can personalise it to the
person you’ll be giving it too.
And that’s it! All in all this probably took me just under an hour to make and most of that the time was spent cutting the cinnamon sticks! The word ‘rustic’ is your best friend with these, if it goes a bit wrong don’t worry there meant to look ‘rustic’ ;)
